| The mission of The Catalyst Foundation is to create a healing society. We are a nonprofit public health organization dedicated to decreasing the impact of unhealed emotional pain and trauma (from childhood abuse, neglect, and other difficult life situations) on society and the world through public education, advocacy, policy reform, and empowerment of directly affected and disenfranchised groups. We are also dedicated to improving the health and well-being of low-income, medically indigent, homeless, and incarcerated persons through high-quality, compassionate medical care, health education, and supportive social services. Our newly opened Healing Center for Adults Recovering from Childhood Abuse and other Life Traumas provides mental health services, yoga, meditation and art therapy.
Our expanded services has had an impact on our space and we are certain we will need even more space within two years' time. |

| The Catalyst Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 organization founded in 1993 to provide medical care and supportive services to AIDS patients in the Antelope Valley. The Foundation’s Bartz-Altadonna Community Health Center has served the community from the SE corner of Milling Street and Elm Avenue in historic downtown Lancaster CA for nearly twenty years. In 2009, thanks to award of generous capacity building grants, The Catalyst Foundation dramatically expanded programs and services and is now in need of additional space to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to persons with HIV/AIDS/ HepC, the homeless, impoverished and marginalized.
The Catalyst Foundation currently operates these services from three separate locations:
The original clinic
A leased annex across the street for Food Pantry and
A new Healing Center for Adults Recovering from Childhood Abuse and Other Life Trauma opened in 2009 and is located approximately three blocks away at the SW corner of Lancaster Blvd and Beech Avenue.
Our goal is to being all of our services UNDER ONE ROOF.
Space is needed in our clinic for additional exam rooms, medical staff and program offices. Supportive / participant services desperately need more space for outreach/prevention offices, HIV testing and counseling space and food pantry space.
Healing Center needs more counseling rooms for individual therapy and a larger community room for art therapy, meditation, yoga, healing workshops and group therapy and support groups.
We have identified a new location close to our current offices with a sensitivity to our clients transportation needs in accessing our services.
The proposed new location is newly constructed raw industrial space that will allow us to configure interior walls and work spaces to meet our needs. We seek design assistance in ensuring this 14,000 square foot space meets code requirements, is efficient for our needs, and is a safe, welcoming and comforting space for our clients and patients (we call them participants) as well as staff and volunteers. |
