| Basil Walter Architects officially began operations in the year 2000, following 12 years of work with a predecessor firm, Sweeny Walter Architects, founded in 1988. BWA is an organization of 13 architects and designers headed by the firm founder, Basil Walter and associates Brenda Bello and Eric Tsay. BWA and its predecessor firm have been responsible for the design of a wide variety of projects, ranging from private homes to office design and event planning. Currently BWA is working on a broad range of architectural services in the United States and abroad, from the design of new structures to the restoration and interior design of existing buildings.
With offices in Beijing China and New York City, BWA has had extensive experience working on designated Landmark buildings and has been responsible for the complete renovation of several historic 19th century townhouses in New York City, restoring these to the single family use. BWA has also designed several freestanding homes in New England, including recently completed houses in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, the Hudson Valley and in the Hamptons.
On the commercial side, BWA has designed offices for Vanity Fair Magazine, NBC Studios, Viacom, and other Manhattan based corporations. Also for Vanity Fair, the firm has been responsible for the design of various annual events, including the prestigious Academy Awards post-party, as well as events for the Tribeca Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival and others.
