Description:

The Youth Organizations Umbrella (Y.O.U.) owns its main building, which houses the administrative offices for twelve staff members as well as the programming space for one of our after-school programs. The after-school program at this building currently serves nearly thirty middle school students each day, and it is located on the ground floor of our building. Right now, only two small classrooms are dedicated to the programming. As we begin to embark on a capital campaign to create a new building at this existing space, we want to identify what it is exactly we are looking for in a new building. We definitely need space for at least thirty students to study and participate in activities, including sports. We also need vastly improved administrative space, but need assistance in figuring out exactly what it is we need and want. We are also interested in building an environmentally friendly sustainable building. We are on a good-sized lot, with a decent amount of yard space, and want to figure out how best to utilize our land.

Project: Finding Out What Y.O.U. Needs
Location: Evanston, IL

Project Timeline: We would like to have the entire building completed within five years.
Design Services: Facilities Needs Assessment,Capital Campaign Materials

Funding Sources: We are embarking on a major capital campaign and expect to raise significant private funds.
Stakeholder Involvement: The twenty-five person Board of Directors is very involved in the organization and is eager and willing to contribute significantly to, as well as assist in, the capital campaign. In addition, an initial program review of the building has been done and it appears there will be no zoning issues from the City of Evanston in terms of building a new facility on our existing land.
