CDA&I Architecture and Interiors Ltd. volunteered its services to the Philadelphia Education Fund to evaluate programming and space planning needs and propose more efficient layouts for two existing College Access Centers which provide underserved, college-bound high school students in Philadelphia with group and individual advising, college readiness and financial aid workshops, and Internet access. The volunteer firm also proposed makeovers for entrances with bold graphics and testimonials by high school students now attending college.

The Community Design Collaborative developed the scope of services with PEF and recruited CDA&I Interiors and Architecture to provide pro bono predevelopment design services. Studio JAED provided pro bono opinions of probable cost for this project.

Graduate! Philadelphia partnered with the Philadelphia Education Fund in 2007. The two organizations secured a grant from the City of Philadelphia that included funding for the renovate the College Access Center at 9th and Market.
Stakeholder Involvement:
The Community Design Collaborative is a community design center that provides pro bono predevelopment design services to nonprofit organizations throughout greater Philadelphia, offers unique volunteer opportunities for design professionals, and raises public awareness about the importance of design in community revitalization.
