Perkins+Will and The University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview partnered with Adopt A Room for this national “dream room” prototype that fulfills the desires of children and families while providing innovative new design solutions for medical professionals and hospital staff. Adopt A Room was formed to provide an innovative delivery system for both private and corporate donors to “adopt” hospital rooms designed for children, by children. The University of Minnesota Children's Hospital will house the first Adopt A Room "showcase suites." Perkins+Will worked in collaboration with children and their families to design the engaging rooms that support normal interaction with parents and friends. The state-of-the-art designed rooms make extended and recurring hospital stays less intimidating, more engaging, and as comfortable as possible for kids and families.
